Getting Mindset Ready

Create A Strict Morning Routine – this will allow you to craft the perfect habits so that you finish the project, but also leads into a life more meaningful.

  • make the bed every day even if it’s ‘just tidy’
  • declutter countertops and vanity areas
  • do smaller loads of laundry to lighten the overwhelm

Framing the mind to go more minimal is a proven strategy that I still live by to this day. Even if some things change from time to time, change is good. However, we want to create balance within our homes, mindset and energy that essentially attracts the abundance we admire and deserve.

  • express gratitude for the things you already have
  • affirm- give yourself a list of words of wisdom to focus on moving forward IE:

Minimal Intro Presentation

Can’t see this video, watch here.

Let’s Begin

Skip to video about minimalist wardrobe goals below.

Day By Day:

Day 1– declutter under the kitchen sink…try to ditch all of the chemical cleaning products

Day 2– clean out undergarments drawer and organize to make a goal of 5 pairs per family member

Day 3– toss any item of clothing that is dingy, holes, have seen better days

Day 4– remove excess clothing by donating extra pieces limiting yourself to 5 t-shirts, 5 pairs of jeans, work/dress shirts, pants

Day 5– clear out one kitchen cabinet to maintain a strict 6 max rule (if there’s 3 people in the home then there’s only 6 dinner plates, 6 cups, 6 bowls

Establish healthy lifestyle rules, boundaries and make sure you do almost the same little tasks each day to become more minimal.

You’ve Got This…You’re Doing Great

Day 6– toss or relocate anything that doesn’t belong in bathrooms eliminating towels to 2 per household member and one extra ‘just for back up’ IE: if there’s 3 people living in the home, each person gets 2 bath towels, 2 wash cloths, 2 hand towels

Day 7– clean and sweep under the beds, remove any storage in bedrooms leaving it free from clutter to improve energy and wealth in the home

Day 8– donate any extra or old kitchen appliances and keep the top of countertop minimal with only things you use on daily basis

Day 9– start on one side of the pantry or kitchen space that stores dry food and remove anything that is not going to be consumed or expired. donate to food pantry

Day 10– organize dry foods by removing any original packaging and placing in clear glass jars/canisters. place the foods that cannot be transferred into a clear bin specified for baked goods, canned goods, etc

Day 11– stop buying in bulk. ditch the hoarding mentality today by training your brain to be more minimal with the things that are being purchased. buy toilet paper in no more than a pack of 6, try eliminating the paper towel use and start learning how to reuse wash rags instead. buy for one week max. declutter and go through the products, and food each day to see what you already have

Keep what ignites your fire. Ask yourself if you love looking at it everyday, does it make you smile. If the answer is yes, keep and discard everything that does not.

Day 12– declutter and donate books and magazines that are not being read or you have no intention on reading in future

Day 13– ditch extra pillows and blankets that are not being used (stored away). donate to shelters

Day 14– take valuable items to consignment or pawn shop, sell online

Day 15– make sure the bedroom furniture doesn’t exceed 3 pieces. if it does rearrange and eliminate the excess. get rid of, donate or give away/toss

Day 16– Start cleaning with all natural products. This will set you up for a future of ditching the tox and it begins with letting go of all the chemical cleaning products:

Slowly eliminate what is being used in all areas of the home with a mini declutter of under the sinks, product storage IE: closets, cabinets, etc.

If you’re not familiar with baking soda, Castile Soap/Sal Suds or homemade DIY’s, you’ll want to introduce these fantastic old fashioned products into your daily routines moving forward. They eliminate the toxins in your home making it better to clean with, healthier to breathe and so much more. The benefits are astronomical.

You’ll Need:
  • baking soda
  • Castile or mild soap, (Sal Suds)
  • glass spray bottle
  • organic essential oils (optional : my fave to clean with is lemongrass- it’s an all natural antifungal, antimicrobial, antibacterial, peppermint or eucalyptus)
  • alcohol for mixing some all purpose spray
  • filtered or distilled water (you can use tap if that’s all you have)

Once you’re ready to start cleaning all naturally you’ll want to keep these ingredients on hand and simply stored for quick clean ups. I personally love a quick sprinkle of baking soda in the sinks for super fast scrubbing with our handpicked brushes. It would certainly be helpful to eliminate the bacteria build up in your kitchen by switching to eco friendly scrubby brushes rather than your typical household sponge.

TBH: it took me several months before I completely went NO TOX in our home with my cleaning routines. It takes time. If you cannot ditch all the chemicals this month, no worries. Make every effort to commit and learn how to clean with natural ingredients and overtime you will enjoy household tasks much more moving forwards.

Day 17– Create a space of cozy that is just your area. This space is free from clutter, not as much furniture, quiet and calm. A place to rest, elevate your legs and close your eyes when you need. Even if it’s just a few moments, it can make all the difference.

Day 18– Mental declutter. Take a walk embrace with nature, relax at home, bake your own homemade Gluten Free pizza, read your book in a quiet space, open a window and allow the natural sunlight to shine through, listen to the birds, take a nice long shower with melts that tempt relaxation, improves sleep and overall wellness.

Day 19– Adopt earthy tones.

Day 20– Bathroom declutter. Start with the medicine cabinet eliminating all expired vitamins, out dated prescription bottles, and use this area just for basic medicinal use. I like to keep my everyday vitamins in this cabinet, bandaids, etc. You can make this space a place to store beauty products but I find it gets messy after a while and it’s easy for me to keep mine under the sink in a storage bin like this. I can pull the drawer out when I’m using it and then put back easily for a less cluttered look in the bathroom.

  • Don’t use the vanity area as a storage unit. Keep essentials like soap, toothbrush, wash cloth on for a minimalist vibe. Everything else can be stored elsewhere.
  • Towels should be limited to the amount of people living in the home: 2 adults using the master should have a max of 4 towels. Guest bathroom should hold 2 towels, kids bathroom only 2 towels. Same amount of face towels, wash cloths with an exception of 1 extra just in case.
  • Same with linens- 2 sheet sets per bed.
  • Clean out the shower stall (don’t use the bathtub as a storage unit).
  • Tidy this space as the rest of the month goes by making it an oasis you always envisioned.
  • Declutter beauty products with organic and natural thoughts in mind. Use this time to rethink about the life you’re creating. Natural beauty lines with a toss and ditch of toxic products moving forward. Eliminate the old and bring in the new you.
  • Keep a bottle of castile soap under the sink and a scrubby brush for quick sink and tub clean outs. That’s it. No toxic chemicals or clutter of cleaning supplies.
  • Bring in a natural live houseplant to either hang or place on the vanity. Golden pothos does not need light, just humidity and this room has enough at times to keep this plant growing. Also, good Feng Shui bringing wealth and happiness to the home.

Day 21– Don’t drive anywhere today. Revisit some areas that need extra special close attention.

Day 22– Clean, declutter and organize the fridge tossing expired foods and items you never use.

Day 23– Slow down, don’t rush to get or be anywhere making it a habit to adopt a slow living movement. Rather than rushing in a grocery store, take your time and really enjoy looking at ingredients, learning more about toxic foods/allergens. Drive the speed limit. Apply a night time skin care routine that is patient and kind to who you’re becoming.

Day 24– Clear and clean out any extra plants that don’t need to be taking up so much space. If they look cluttered, downsize. If you’re a silk plant lover ditch them for live houseplants moving forward. Faux plants tend to take up a lot of space and collect dust which is highly toxic. Sometimes they are impossible to keep clean and you’re maintaining a minimalist lifestyle, so donate or toss. If you are not a live plant mama, go buy a new houseplant and learn how to be a green thumb. Some fantastic low light plants are Philodenron Heartleaf, Golden Pothos, Marble Queen Pothos, Snake plants, Spider plant.

Day 25– Journal.

Day 26– Kitchen drawers.

Day 27– Minimalist Wardrobe Capsule.

Day 28– Shoe declutter.

Day 29– Go through the entire house and place extra decor, styles that no longer fit your lifestyle in a box for donation. This includes art, wall decor, bookshelf decor, extra decor all over the house. Too much on a wall, get rid of. Don’t like the wall galleries anymore, take down and place photos in a safe space until you find a new way to save them. If there’s more than 3 pieces of decor to an area, it’s too much. Minimalist mindset. Ditch the excess.

Day 30– Social detox, delete old emails, and photos from phone clearing up space on your timelines, storage in your phone and computer. Delete any old posts that no longer define who you are, unfriend any negativity, unfollow anyone that you don’t enjoy anymore.
